5月21日，美国环球交流公司总裁杰瑞·尤伯利在郑州大学西亚斯第五届女性成长论坛开幕式上做了热情洋溢的演讲。
5年来，她在河南坚持做一件事——开办西亚斯女性学院，并邀请成功女性为女性学院的学生义务辅导，坚持每年开办一次全球范围的女性论坛，以呼唤和期望更多的女性，加入到提升女性领导地位的行动中来。在演讲中，她讲述了自己的故事。
Five years ago in early May, a phone call to Shawn Chen asking if we could do something for women on Sias campus resulted in the First Women’s Symposium. In less than 3 weeks this first event was organized and 1300 women students attended and began this tradition that has now grown to 5000 Sias women students… bringing more than outstanding presenters to share their expertise and experiences and to join us in promoting the advancement of women to leadership roles。
5年前5月初的一天，在和陈肖纯理事长的一次通话中，我们讨论了是否能够组织一场女性成长论坛，来为西亚斯的女性成员做些什么。于是，在不足三周的紧张筹备后，1300名学生参加了第一届女性论坛。现在，女性论坛已经影响了5000名西亚斯女生，同时论坛还带来了更多杰出女性代表来到西亚斯，分享她们成功的经验并且加入到我们提升女性领导地位的行动中来。
This Annual Women’s Symposium is designed to inspire Sias women students to discover their passion … to explore their dreams … And to find their voice. It is a call to action for students to apply the skills and knowledge they have gained through their academic studies to opportunities that will provide purposeful work and satisfaction in both their lives and in the lives of others。
举行女性论坛的初衷，在于鼓舞西亚斯的女性成员去点燃她们的激情……发掘她们的梦想……以及聆听她们的声音。论坛号召学生们行动起来，运用所学的知识和自身能力，抓住这个自我升华和造福他人的机会。
